hello birdies fall edition and a winner!

Hello!  Happy Thursday!  I hope that all is well with you!  We are having beautiful but a bit windy weather!  Such a nice way for September to end!  Today I am home with Carter as Ariel is in school!  She is loving school and is doing so well!  Every month at her school students are to memorize bible verses this month she had to memorize " I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  your works are wonderful,  I know that full well. Psalm 139:14"  Not a small easy one at all!  She wanted to learn it and did it quickly!  And she learned it and recited it before the last day!  I am so proud of her!

Do you remember this card I made in the summer?  A little while ago I had an idea for a fall version!

I also have a winter version in my head too but will not allow myself to make it until we have snow.  But friends that really could be any day where I live!  :>  I stamped the tree limbs and birds from Kiss from the Sun set by HA, love that set! To make the falling leaves I cut a leaf out of another HA clear stamp, and than stamped it all over.  The birds may not be actual colors but well I thought it was cute!  This card makes me happy!

I am entering this card into the current Hero Arts challenge which is anything fall!  And also into the current Caardvarks challenge which is CAS!

So while I was gone at Scrapfest I had a few posts up and was planning on drawing a prize!  So here it is!  The winner is:

Scrapfest Day 3 Sunday!

Hello!  I am back with my last post about Scrapfest!  The Sunday post!  On Sunday Scrapfest started later at 11.  We arrived at 10:30 and made our way to the Hero Arts booth, on our way we noticed that several booths had long lines already!  Little Yellow Bicycle's make and take was a Halloween page which took forever but was very popular!  I do not celebrate Halloween so I didn't bother with that wait!  We got early at the Hero Arts booth and had a great chat with the ladies!  We did the HA make and take and since we weren't spending very  much time in the mall I decided to spend the rest of my time shopping.  Can you blame me?  We left the mall and started on our long drive home, but first we stopped at an Outlet mall.  All in all I got some great shopping done on our trip.  I bought a lot of crafty items, some clothes and a pair of shoes for me, but the ones who made it the best was my kids, I spent the most money on them!  I realize I that I may talk a lot about shopping on my blog.  I want you to know that I am not as bad about shopping as I was when I was young.  I find that I may go shopping often but I don't buy all that much, I know what I want and it's not always easy to find it, and I always use cash!  Although wait I do sorta buy a lot for my kids, but only at good prices!

When I went to take the photos of the make and takes I made I realized that I must have lost some....  that must be why I don't have that many right?  Nope!  Last year there were 46 booths, this year there was 30 and 1000 more people!  The lines were longer, and with taking classes and helping at the GCD Booth I didn't have as much of a chance..  I wish I had done more make and takes but I still had a great time!  I found that the whole weekend went so much faster than last year!  Here are the make and takes I did make:

The tag is Unity, the butterfly pencil topper is KI Memories.
The green card is from Sizzix, the pear card is from Basic Grey, and the Halloween card is from Making Memories (But the cool ribbon is missing, must be somewhere in my stash...)

Both these cards are from Hero Arts!  The one on the right is from Friday and the one on the left is Sunday!  Hero Arts actually had 2 different cards each day but I didn't find this out until Sunday!  I console myself that missing it couldn't have been avoiding, I wasn't in the mall at those times!  :<

Well there you go, I did it!  I wrote all about my Scrapfest weekend!  Now you know all about it and I hope that next year you come too!

Wee Memories Blog Hop!

Hi everyone!  Happy Saturday! Welcome to the first Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge Blog Hop!  If your following the hop right you have come here from Ann!  I hope you are having a great start to your weekend!  Last night Chad and I took the kids to see a movie!  It was Carter's first movie in the theater!  We saw Cats and Dogs something, can't remember!  It was a good movie for what I saw, Carter did really well for just being 2 and a boy who doesn't like to sit!  He was so cute with his uh oh, and pointing and saying Doggie!  I am currently home alone with the kids as Chad is gone on a last minute trip to Minneapolis!  So funny as I was there just last weekend for Scrapfest!  My brother and him are gone to pick up a car for the night, Chad is excited as he is going to a Vikings game and that is Chad's favorite team!  I am looking forward to just being with the kids and spending time with them!

This week the challenge is CAS (clean and simple) and/or tags!

Our sponsor is the wonderful Simon Says Stamps with a $10 gift certificate to there store!  Such a great prize with how many great stamps they carry!

Here is my card:

I love CAS!  I stamped the leaves in various distress inks and than covered them in glossy accents like I saw on the Hero Arts blog. Than I stamped my new background stamp, Magical Background over top.

Hero Arts Flickr Dinner at Scrapfest!

Hi!  Today I want to share more with you about my adventures at Scrapfest2010!  My first post about it is here and my second post is here.  On Saturday night I attended a dinner with my fellow Hero Arts Flickr friends and a few of the Hero ladies, Jennifer McGuire, Shari Carroll, Richel and Carol!  We went to the restaurant Twin City Grill in MOA and had a delicious meal!  And we all had so much fun chatting and getting to know each other better!  I had met all the Hero ladies last year at Scrapfest so it was great to be able to spend time with them again!  They really are wonderful!  It was great to spend time with my HA Flickr friends that I have made friendships with online!  Some I had met already so it was great to see again and lots I met in real life for the first time!  Now I know what you really want to see is some pictures:

I like these photos since they aren't perfect and you can see the conversation and what's going on.  :>

Sarah and me!  Sarah is also a fellow canucker who is super talented and also very lovely!

We had a card swap!  Do you remember my card I posted on Saturday?  That is one of the ones I brought!

Me and Jennifer McGuire!  Don't even need to tell you how exciting it is to have another photo with her!  She is so fun!  And boy can she eat.....lol!  She is totally a little firecracker!  Also love how I think every time I have seen her she is wearing a dress or a skirt!  Makes me want to get back my dress and skirt ways, in high school I didn't own a pair of jeans, and grade 10 I never wore a pair of pants!  I think having kids changed it for me, they are getting bigger but I still find myself bending over a lot!  LOL!

Kari, Jenn and Linda!  I actually met all 3 of them last year at Scrapfest!  And Linda even met up with me for coffee when she was here in Winnipeg this past spring!  Linda was so kind on Friday morning when I shared with her how I ran out of time and forgot to make a Hero Arts pin, she took one of hers off and gave it to me!  How kind is that?

Shari picking her card from the swap!

Sarah's mom, Sarah and Jennifer!

Me and Shari!  My goodness my love for Shari really grew this weekend!  She is so amazing and kind!  And I love her funny stories!  Spending time with her was so fun and you really feel that your her friend!

Love this fun photo of Barb, Shari, Sarah and Sarah's mom!

Jenn, Me, Barb and Sarah!  These girls are crazy talented and it was great to get to know them so much better!

Kari (Jenn's friend and travel partner!) Me and Jenn!

Here is a photo of all us the Hero Ladies, the flickr ladies and our friends and family!  So many of us!  And what a fun photo! I am sitting in Shari's lap!!!  :>  (Thanks Latrice for emailing it to us!)

We had a card swap that night!  Here are the beautiful cards I received, do you recognize the first one?

Yes it's a card that Jennifer McGuire made!  :>

And look at this spooky one!

Such a great Halloween card by Ann!

Well I hope you enjoyed this post!  I have one more about Sunday....

2nd Day of Scrapfest!

I am back with more about my weekend at Scrapfest!  I want to share with you all about it before I forget the details!  If you haven't had a chance to read about my first day you can click here.  Our second day of Scapfest was on Saturday.  I had a class that morning at 10 am, it was the Tim Hotlz class!  I was so excited!!!  While I was waiting in line my friend Natasha comes and finds me and tells me that she is holding me a spot close to the front!  What a sweetheart!  We were able to get good seats, in the front row!!!  What a great class it was!  Tim is a great teacher and talks a lot sharing really good information about his products!  Here is a picture of him teaching:

I had a lot of fun taking the class with Natasha!  What a sweetheart she is, she loves to talk, as do I so we got along great!  Here is what we made in the class:

And wow what giveaways!  We got to take home the products we used!  Natasha was so sweet and gave me her 2 Distress Inks as she had the colors already while I hadn't (there were 2 kits of colors)  Ranger also gave us a package of grunge board, and Sizzix gave us 2 Embossing folders that aren't even out yet!!!!

Here is a picture of Natasha and me with Tim Hotlz!!!!!!!

After this Natasha had to go to her next class!  I on the other hand....

On Friday my friend Sophie who I traveled with and I waiting for an hour and a half in the line for GCD to make the cutest necklaces!!!  While waiting I chatted with some Flickr friends Sarah and Jenn!

When it was Sophie and my turn to make the necklaces I realized that the GCD girl Heidi was all by herself at the booth.  I was curious so I asked her why (most booths had several workers)  She shared with us that her helper's daughter had had a really bad asthma attack and she was only a year a half so Heidi told her to stay home.  Totally agree with that!  And that Melody Ross who was also with her was teaching classes.  I felt so bad for Heidi.  Everyone at Scrapfest loved the necklaces so there were long lines and while waiting in line I could hear some people complaining and not having the best attitude.  I asked Heidi if she would like me to help her tommorow (Friday was almost done by this time) and she was so touched and happy by that and said she would love it!  I didn't even think before I asked her, I just thought I could help!  Sophie also wanted to help!  On Saturday while I did my class Sophie helped Melody Ross do the make and take while Heidi taught a class.  When I was done my Tim Holtz class I headed over to the GCD booth and helped out!  For a little bit I was all by myself and ran the GCD booth while Melody Ross went to teach her class and Heidi returned!  It was so fun!  Here is my necklace that I made:
I showed the necklace with the box that it comes in!  The blue part is a piece of chipboard that you mist with water, stamped with an Ornamental stamp like these , it leaves a impression in the chipboard!  And you paint it!  How cool is that?  So I umm well didn't do any make and takes on Saturday, instead I helped out with the GCD Booth?  How cool is that:? It was so fun! Here is a picture of me in action:
And here is a picture of me and Heidi from GCD who really may be the nicest and happiest person ever!  Loved  her!

Oh and here is a picture of me and Melody Ross!!!  Melody is so sweet!

The Chip Art necklaces were so popular that they ran out while I was there!  Too bad I was having so much fun!

After that Heidi totally spoiled my friends and I!  Look forward to seeing some creations!  For the late afternoon my friends and I went shopping!  :>  I will be back later with the Hero Arts Flickr dinner we had that night...

First Day at Scrapfest!

Hi everyone!  I am home from Scrapfest and so happy to be home!  I had an amazing time and am so happy that I went but it's great to be back with my sweethearts!  They don't seem to be wanting to spend the day in my lap so while they play I will tell you about my weekend at Scrapfest!  I tried to get a lot of photos so you could get a good idea of Scrapfest!

I went to Scrapfest which was at Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN with three of my good friends, Kate, Marie and Sophie.  Do you think they we remembered to take a photo of the 4 of us?  Sadly not.  :<  We left bright and early at 7 am for the 7 to 8 hour drive since we wanted to hit the outlet mall on the way in.  We stopped in Fargo to go to Hobby Lobby and Micheals.  Where we got such great deals!  I got a border punch I was looking for, so thrilled when I found the pink ATG gun (in Canada the craft stores sell a knock off) Marie got a Cinch!  Oh the crafty finds! And a bunch of other things. We went back on the road for Minneapolis, or so we thought.  After driving for about 3 1/2 hours it occurs to us we haven't seen any sings for Minneapolis so we pull in to the first gas station.  We had arrived at Sioux Falls, South Dakota!!!!  We were only miles from Iowa!  Crazy!  The guy at the gas station tells us that we aren't all that far off course, about 2 1/2 hours.  Well it turned out to be 5 hours!!!  We did not hit the outlet mall that day!  And arrived at our hotel at 9:30!  That was a long drive!  We had a GPS and it kept telling us to turn right but we had thought it was wrong since when we looked right there was no highway since it was being repaired.  And the GPS got annoying with it's "wrong" directions so we turned it off.  We all handled it well and enjoyed telling everyone about it!

On friday morning we arrived bright and early to Scrapfest and while waiting in line I ran into a bunch of my flickr friends!  It was nice to chat in line together and than we went to the Hero Arts booth together.  Here are some photos from that:

Some ladies making the make and take, a pretty card!

Shari working on a power pint presentation!  I love Shari she is such a sweetheart!

Me making the make and take!

Classic Jennifer!

Jennifer showing how to make the card!!!!

After Linda, Sarah, Sarah's mom, Anne, Barb, Jenn and Kari and I finished making the Hero Arts card we broke up since a few of them had a class and Linda and I went together to a few make and takes.  The first one we did was Unity.  I will share the photos I did take of the booths so you get an idea of what Scrapfest is like!  Here is some of Unity, they had a beautiful display.

Next I hit the Basic Grey booth.  The ladies at Basic Grey were so nice!  Basic Grey had a different card everyday and used the same 12 by 12 sticker sheet for it and on Sunday the last day of Scrapfest who ever did the make and take got to take the rest of the sticker sheet home!  Here is some of Basic Grey:

A lot of the booths had beautiful display!  It made waiting in the lines enjoyable just starting at all the gorgeous layouts and cards!

After a few make and takes I had my first class!!  Which was Color Your World with Hero Arts taught by the amazing Jennifer McGuire!  I just made it to the class on time, I got lost!  Thankfully my wonderful Flickr friends who were also taking the class saved me a spot! Here is Sarah and I before the class started!

Aren't we cute?  Sarah is so kind and fun!  Loved meeting you Sarah!

Trying to take photos while trying to make the 3 cards in the fast paced class wasn't the easiest!  Here is Jennifer teaching, she walks around a lot and talks loudly making her a great teacher!

Shari!  Always smiling!

Anne happy and smiling so her!  And Barb concentrating on her card!!!

I loved the display at Making Memories.  I only went to there make and take on Friday since they were doing a Halloween card everyday.  Some booths so the same make and take all 3 days, and some do different ones everyday, or even change it during the day!  There was a large picture display showing the make and takes the different booths did or you could ask them which is what I did.  Here is the fun display at Making Memories:

I loved seeing all the clothes they made with the slice!  My friend Sophie told me that I could iron interfacing to fabric and than run it through her cricket and make shapes also!  And I could do it with the dies that I have also.  I always intend to do this and don't so I am going to force myself!  You know, I should just have another baby think of all the cute onsies I could make!  I wonder if that excuse would work on my husband, somehow I don't think so!

After a full day of Scrapfest fun on Friday Sophie, Marie Kate and I went shopping!  We hit a local mall and I got some cute clothes!  And shoes!  I was happy!  Well that is my first day of Scrapfest!  I will write more later!

Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge 23

Hi everyone!  As you are reading this I am currently in Minneapolis with 3 of my girl friends for Scrapfest!  Today I have a full day at the Mall of America where Scrapfest is held, doing make and takes and have a Tim Holtz class!  It's going to be so fun!  I don't think I will be able to write about Scrapfest while I am here, I won't have the time!  It's tiring standing in lines and shopping all night you know!!! I want to let you know that I won't be able to comment on your blogs while I am gone, I won't have a chance!  But I will be doing a random giveaway to someone or someones who leave me comments while I am gone!  I don't care if you win a lot and feel like you shouldn't, I am blessed by all the times you do comment!

Today I am here with my card for Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge!  Our sponsor this week is Your Next Stamp!

The challenge this week is SOS:  String, Orange and Scallops!  I actually made this card for tonight!  I am having dinner with a bunch of my Hero Arts Flickr friends and some of the ladies from Hero Arts, Jennifer McGuire and Shari Caroll! Can you feel my excitement?  We are doing a card swap and are to bring 2 cards.  I made this card for that with my friend Kate over crafting too.  Kate and I both realized that this card would work for this challenge!  How awesome is that?  Totally by accident!

In case you are wondering the string is the antenna!   I embossed the kraft cardstock with my Seeing Spots Cuttlebug folder than stamped the raised dots with my friends def background stamp! I colored the butterflies with my prisma and derwent pencils!

I really hope you can play with us this week, you have until Friday September 24th at 11:59pm PST!  For more info please click here.
