Home from Scrapfest and a card!

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!  I hope you had a great weekend!  I did as I spent it at Scrapfest!!!  This was my third year going to Scrapfest and I loved it as much as I have the previous years!  It's always such a great trip!  Minneapolis is about an 8 hour drive for us so we drive!  I went with 3 of my girlfriends the same as last year!  For us this trip to Scrapfest is not just about crafting, but about shopping too!  I bought myself a new pair of shoes (Clarks had a coupon for us Scrapfesters!!!)  A warm fall jacket, some tops and some crafty items (not as much as I thought I would though, lol!)  I bought the kids a lot of new clothes, not a surprise!

For those who have never been to Scrapfest it's held at Mall of America in Bloomington.  There are all sorts of crafting companies that offer make and takes that you can do with your badge and the make and takes are located all over the main floor of the mall!  It's super fun as you learn new techniques see new products!  You can also register for classes too.  I took 3 classes one by Claudine Hellmuth (making a canvas, so fun to play with her mediums and foam stamps!) And the two Hero Arts classes!  I really enjoyed the make and takes and my classes!  There were long lines for the make and takes so I didn't get to do as many of them as I would have liked buy non the less I did really enjoy it!

Another reason I really like going to Scrapfest is that I see a lot of my crafty friends.  Some I have met several times like Barb, Linda (my fellow hostess just a few months ago) Anne, Jenn and Britta!!!  And  2 new ones too Trinh and Robin!!  It really is so great to be able to spend time with these crafty ladies!  I was able to do some make and takes with them, and classes too!  It's really neat that as you spend time with them through the weekend you feel so comfortable with them and that they are more than an online friend but a real friend!

Here are some photos from our Hero Arts class, most of us took it together and sat in the front two rows!  I sat right in the front and it was quite neat to actually see Shari and Jennifer stamp in person!

Anne and Barb sat right behind me:

And here is the wonderful Shari Caroll and Jennifer McGuire who taught our class!

Every year we do a Hero Arts Flickr dinner for all of us who can come on Saturday.  This year I organized it!  We had such a great time!  The food was soooo good!  I may have forgotten my camera a few times this weekend, but luckily I remembered it that night!  I have a few photos to share:

Robin, Trinh and me!

Britta and Anne!

Me, Britta and Anne
Barb, Shari, Jennifer and Linda!

For dinner we had a friendship card exchange.  I took one from my stash and made a new one to bring:

I clear embossed one of the leaves from Delicate Leaf Clusters onto vintage cream cardstock by pti. Than I colored the panel with wild honey, spiced marmalade, and barn door distress inks (in that order)  and distressed the edges.  Stamped over it with old letter writing by HA and added the sentiment and of course some twine!  I am also entering this card into HA's contest this month under the fall catagory!

Here are the lovely cards I received the first is from Trinh it features a magnetic bookmark which my friends and I really love!!  I have been using it in my book!

And my next card is form Robin, my friends and I so loved how she packaged her card, such a great idea:

Well there you have it!  A very long post about the fun we had at Scrapfest!  So happy I went again this year, and hoping to go again next year too!  :>
