Button Snowman Gift Card Holder Card

Hello!  Happy Monday!  Currently the snow is coming down!  So much of it!  I am thankful for a hubby who does the shoveling in this relationship!  Home today with the kids, planning on starting the Christmas baking!  Hopefully some of this will make it's way to the freezer unlike the other day's baking that made it's way to our tummies. :>

Happy to say that I did start my Christmas shopping this weekend, I bought Carter two Cars toys lol!  But it's a start!  A long ways to go....

Today I have a card for the current challenge at Caardvarks which is to make a gift card holder.  I decided to play with my PTI set Holiday Button Bits that I got last year.  Haven't seen all that many people playing with it online this year but I don't care it took forever to get here and I hardly played with it last year!

Love this color combo!  I used pp from a Christmas stack by My Minds Eye.  I embossed the cardstock with a snowflake folder by Cuttlebug.  The ric rac is felt that I cut with my PTI die.  I sponged ink onto the nestie while it was still in the die like I see so many other card makers do!  I loved how Lucy did the pocket inside her card so I had my mom sew this panel inside the card!

I hope you have a great week and make a big dent in your Christmas shopping! :>

Bowtiful Ribbon!

Hello!  Happy last Saturday of November!  Less than a month until Christmas now!  I hope your doing better than me as I am sick!  Currently I have no voice and for me this is the WORST THING EVER!  I am very talkative and I miss being able to talk!  Expect this to be a very wordy post!  All in all I haven't felt absolutely horrible and I have been getting better fast (although how long does it take for one's voice to come back already!) I didn't have any fevers and haven't been confined to my bed or anything.  The worst of it is losing my voice.  I miss talking!

I am here with another Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge!  This week our challenge is Bowtiful Ribbon!  And our sponsor is Charleston Scrapbook Company!  Such a wonderful prize they have provided for our winner, a bow maker!

I love this week's challenge as I love ribbon on my cards and I think most of us do!  I went with a Christmas card as I am currently making a lot of them these days!

I started with a cream card which I distressed the edges with vintage photo (TH), than I stamped the magical background (HA) on top in the vintage photo.  I stamped the trees with the vintage photo also and colored with green inks by memento.  The brown panel was embossed with a snowflake folder by Cuttlebug, here is a close up:

After I embossed it I inked it with my versmark pad to add definition to the raised embossing since the paper is so dark.  It really helps bring attention to it!  I tied a red ribbon in a bow and finished it with a silver snowflake!

I hope that you will join us this week! You have until Friday December 3, 2010 11:59pst to play!  For more info please click here, and don't forget to check out and leave love for my fellow DT!  Thank you for visiting today and your always kind comments!

Retro Christmas Tags

Hi everyone!  Hope your having a great Tuesday!  Today I have two tags that I made to share.  I used my set Retro Christmas by Practicing Creativity, I won this set in October and love it!  Here they are:

I stamped the Hero Arts magical background in white on kraft first.  For the reindeer one I free hand cut the snow embossed it with a swirl folder than lined the cliff and some of the swirls with glossy accents and doused it with glitter! Stamped the sentiment twice so that I could break it apart!  For the tree one I also stamped it with the background and stamped the candy cane on white and cut it out.  Stamped the trees in different greens separately cut it out and added stickles!  I am also entering this into this weeks challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Blog which is Sparkle!

Hope your having a great day!

Blooming Meadow Card Set and Purse

Hello!  Happy Monday!  Winter has arrived here in Winnipeg!  Oh the snow!  Friday it came down all day and we spent the day at home and it was wonderful!  The kids enjoyed playing outside in it although Carter hasn't mastered walking in the snow!  We had to rescue him a few times, once he was crying and Ariel was calling Chad to come and help him "I love him you need to get him!"  How sweet!  It snowed more on Saturday, Sunday and it's coming down right now!  Driving in the snow has been an adjustment, it's funny how you forget!  I worked at the mall this weekend and it was NUTS I guess with the snow the Christmas bug has hit! (Thankful I only work 5 hour shifts that's for sure!) I bought Ariel two winter hats, I couldn't help it, I love cute animal hats, I got her a owl and monkey one!  I bought Carter a puppy one last week!  Such good sales I am lucky I made it out of there alive and didn't spend too much!

Today I have another card purse to share!  I like that the current Hero Arts contest includes gifts!  I think this is a great gift!  For this one I played with my blooming meadow stamp:

First I stamped the magical background (by HA) with gray ink on white cardstock.  Than I colored the blooming meadow stamp with markers and sprayed it with water mixed with perfect pearls and stamped it!  Finished with a bow and a sentiment stamped on the bottom!

I have actually been  quite busy creating lately so I have a lot to share in the next little while!  Hopoe your week starts out great!

This week our sponsor is Stamps of Life!  Stamps of life feature high quality stamps made in the USA!  they have provided us with such a great prize for our winner this week, a stamp set of the winners choice!

Our challenge this week is TO PUT A LITTLE PINK!  Use pink in your cards!  Talk about a great challenge, I love pink and know that most of us girls do!

In my last post I made a bunch of blue flowers like this and had to play with pink too:

I embossed the Hero Arts flower on water color paper and inked it up with some pink Memento inks than sprayed it very heavily with a water and perfect pearls mixture and left it overnight to dry.  I stamped the musical background in silver pigment ink and over top stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink (goes best over the silver!)  Finished with some rhinestones!

I hope you join us this week with the challenge at Wee Memories!  You have until Friday November 26, 2010 11:59 pst!!!  And I am the last stop on the hop!   For more info on the challenges please check out Jenny's blog here.

Flower Purse and Card Set

Hi all!  Happy Wednesday!  It's been a good day over here!  Started my day off at Stay and Play this am as I do most Wednesdays!  The kids love having so many great toys and friends to play with!  And I enjoy chatting with other mom's and having free Starbucks coffee (my church so rocks!)  We also volunteered with cleanup, I say we since my kids help out and LOVE to volunteer!  Ariel always asks me "Do we get to volunteer today?"  Where else can such a young child volunteer so easily?  Still no snow here!  It has snowed several times since last night but not the kind of snow that sticks.  It's so odd to have had such a warm fall and still no snow middle of November already!  Although it has gotten colder outside which should lead to snow!

Today I have a card set I made with a matching purse!  The gift season is coming and I am trying to be prepared!  I think I will be making A LOT of card sets this holiday season!  This is also for the current contest at Hero Arts which includes handmade gifts! The cards and purse:

A close up on one of the cards:

I stamped the HA flourish stamp in Tumbled glass on the cream note card.  I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper, at Scrapfest in the HA class that I took they used watercolor paper when they did this technique and it works so much better than regular cardstock that I had to buy some watercolor!  I embossed the flowers in white, than sponged tumbled glass and broken china distress ink on them and sprayed with a lot of water mixed with perfect pearls and let them dry!  I made the bottom panel with brown cardstock and border punched it!  A close up of the purse with the cards inside:

I made the purse out of cream cardstock and after I scored it where it would be folder I realized that the flourish stamp fits perfectly in the back and front panels! Super easy when I stamped it!

So what do you think?  Do you find yourself making card sets as gifts too, or what do you make?

cute as a button

Hello!  Happy Monday!  Hope you had a great weekend!  We sure did but busy!  Saturday we went to Ariel's swimming lesson than rushed to the Santa Parade.  We parked very far and walked a long way, thank goodness for a sit and stand stroller (like a double but better for older kids) We were at the end of the parade route but it was so much less crowded so that was nice.  Than we walked to the Forks (which is where the two rivers meet and a tourist location in our downtown) and watched fireworks!  One good thing about it getting dark so much earlier is that fireworks are at a good time of 7:30 for little kids!  Than the long walk back to the car!  One good thing about the long walk is that there was no traffic once we got the car.  We heard a lot of horror stories of friends who took the bus (standing out with 3 kids waiting for the bus just to have it drive by as it's full!) and other such stories so I am glad that we couldn't go to the start of the parade route!

Today I have a baby card to share.  I have made a lot more baby cards lately but have even more that need to be made!  I also have a lot of cards that I need to catch up on the share!

It's a very simple card, I don't know why but it seems that working with PTI stamps bring out the CAS girl in me!  Although I really like it since babies are so new and fresh!  I am currently waiting for a really good friend to have her baby, she is a few days overdue.  She doesn't know what she is having, and she has two boys already!

Yesterday we spent the day at my parents.  Chad had an open house basically the street over from their house and we needed them to babysit the kids that evening since we had Chad's Christmas party for work!  My parents wanted to buy Ariel skates and a helmet as part of her birthday present so my dad, Ariel and I  went shopping for that.  While shopping we saw that they had really small skates that would fit Carter so my dad bought that and a helmet for him.   And it's a good thing we did.  When we got home I asked him if he wanted to try them on since you play hockey with them.  Carter sits right in my lap and doesn't wiggle or make a noise as I put them on.  The guy at the store told us to let him walk around the house on the carpet in them so he learns not to walk bow legged like a deer.  I put the skates and helmet on and he stands right up and starts to walk like it's nothing!  He fell a bit but quickly got the hang of it and walked around the house for a while.  I went to take them off and he freaked out!  Cried hockey for a while.  This morning the first thing he does is bring me the hockey skates and tells me hockey!  I have since hidden them as I don't need any more holes in my walls!  I really see myself becoming a hockey mom, he is only 2 years old and loves it so much already?  Ariel on the other hand is total opposite and told me that she is going to dance on ice! I think this week we will be taking the kids skating!  I'll make sure to share some photos!

Scrappy Saturday Challenge 31!

Hello!  Happy Saturday!  I am quite excited for today as it's the Santa Parade today!  I can't wait to take my kids to see the parade and fireworks afterward!  There isn't any snow on the ground and it's not as cold as it has been some years!  Last year my church's float won the best float, I am so excited to see my churches float!

Well I am here with another Scrappy Saturday Challenge!  It's already our 31st challenge!  This week our sponsor is Paper Maniac!  Wow I took a little look around there store, some great stuff!  We have a great challenge this week (when do we not?  :>)

So fun!  I find that I use a lot more patterned paper at Christmastime!  Here is a Christmas card I made:

I embossed the nativity scene with red pigment ink and clear embossing powder.  I wanted a cream background but I was out of cream cardstock so I distressed the white card with antique linen distress ink by Tim Holtz and the foam applicator. Than I distressed the edges with the foam applicator and vintage photo ink, and than stamped the musical background over top in the vintage photo.  I really like this pattern paper but it seemed to bright for the card so I distressed the patterned paper also with a bit of the vintage photo!  Lastly I stamped the Joy in the same red pigment ink!  I love how it turned out!

Last week I shared Ariel's Birthday invites and than my last post was pictures of her from a baby until now!  Today I will share photo's from her party! It went so well!  I was quite nervous as it was my first all kids birthday party, and it was for the girls most of there first all kids birthday party too!  I kept hearing how excited the girls were so I felt the pressure to put on a good party!  Here are some of the photos:

At the start of the party!  Don't they look excited?

As our craft we decorated cookies!  I picked up a princess cookie shape kit at Michael's, it was a crown, a castle and princess shoe!  Each girl had three cookies to decorate!  I put white and light pink royal icing in bags for each, and bought sprinkles and colored sugars!  They loved it!   I let them take it home with them as I knew it would be a huge mess, plus they had to dry!  :>

Next we played pass the poison apple.  I reminded them about about snow white and how she fell asleep when she bit into the poison apple.  We passed the apple around singing a song I made  up on the spot you fell asleep if you were left with the apple when the song finished.  Whoever was the last to be awake had to wake up all the other princesses.  They really liked this game!  After that we played the Princess and the Pea game.  I told them the story about the Princess and the pea than the girls look turns sitting on pillows to see which one had the tennis ball underneath!  After that we played pin the flower on Tinkerbell, a blindfold game!  The games were a lot of fun but boy did they go fast!  We also did princess temporary tattoos!  Did they ever love those!

Do you like the Barbie cake?  I baked the cake in a metal mixing bowl for well over an hour!  So happy it turned out!  The Barbie is a pick that has no legs that Micheal's sells!  The colored sugar really saved the day on my horrible icing job! (I really should take a cake decorating course!)   The sign she is holding says Happy Birthday Ariel!  All the girls loved the cake!

There were a lot of presents!  Ariel had a great time as did all the other girls!  It went so well!  I was so happy!

Here are some photos on Ariel's birthday when we had family over:

I always like to get the four of us at birthdays!  Thank you Carter for that face!  Oh well!
My parents with there only 2 grandkids!  Boy do they ever love them!  Who do you think I look like?

Chad's parents with the kids!

If you've made it to here thank you!  :>  I hope you will join us this week at Wee Memories!  And please make sure you check out the rest of the design team cards!  :>

A Christmas Tag and Happy Birthday Ariel!

Hello everyone!  I have my first Christmas tag (if I remember correctly) of the season to share tonight!  Last Christmas I didn't make all that many tags, I found it difficult for some reason but currently I am quite enjoying tags!  I love the musical stamp being distressed:

The size of this tag is 2 3/4 inches by 5.25 inches.  I distressed the edges of the tag first with Tim Holtz vintage photo ink and than stamped the musical background in the same ink.  The tree is also stamped with the vintage photo than colored with green ink.  All stamps are Hero Arts.  Not sure which snowflake punch that is!

Yesterday was Ariel's 5th Birthday!  I can't believe she is 5 already!  I always knew I wanted to be a mother and that it would be amazing!  And I was right!  I loved being pregnant with Ariel!  We never found out her gender until she was born!  I was convinced she was a boy but when she came out I was delighted to have a daughter!  Chad and I loved becoming parents and I loved how our relationship grew as we both adored her!  Still to this day if one of us says to the other lets go and look at them sleeping we both get excited to go and see!  I have loved raising Ariel and watching her grow into this little sweet girl!  She has always stolen the hearts of everyone where ever we go!  I would love to share with you some of my favorite photos of her:

6 weeks old!  She was a chubby baby!  8 pounds 14 ounces when was born!

I have to share this photo with you!  Ariel was 4 months and I took this photo on St Patricks Day and emailed it to our family and friends!  She was a gorgeous baby!

Ariel was 7 months here and I loved taking pictures of her!

Ariel is 14 months here, Valentines Day 2007!

Christmas 2007 Ariel is 2 here!

Valentines Day 2008, Ariel is 2 and a bit here!  I love this laugh of a smile!

Ariel at 2 and a half!  Oh how I loved those cheeks!

Ariel at almost 3.  She looks so little to me still here!

Ariel at 3.  Getting big!

Ariel at almost 4!

Ariel 4 years old, I love this photo!

And from yesterday Ariel and Me.  Ariel I love you so much.  All my dreams came true 5 years ago when God blessed me with you.  I love being your mother  Your such a wonderful child.  You are kind hearted, friendly to everyone, beautiful, honest, great to your brother, and so loving.  The best word to describe you is sweet.  I have loved every moment of these past 5 years and I look forward to lifetime more.  Thank you for being you.

I will be back with another post and I'll share some photos from Ariel's Birthday party!  It went really well!  :>

Wee Memories Birthday Bash!

Hello!  Happy Saturday!  Welcome to another Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge!  I am quite excited that today is here!  Today is Ariel's first all kids birthday party!  She is having a princess party!  I have been enjoying coming up with ideas and shopping for her party and cannot wait!

This week our sponsor is There She Goes Clear Stamps! And we have a great prize of a Stamp Set of the Winners Choice!
This is a super special challenge this week as it's Wee Memories 1 year Blogaversary!  Yay Jenny!  Congratulations!  So we are having a BIRTHDAY BASH!  I thought it was perfect to share the birthday invitation I made for Ariel's birthday!  I made them while Chad was gone on the guy trip, I worked on them each night when the kids went to sleep while I watched reruns of one of my favorite sitcoms, How I Met Your Mother!  I only took pictures of 2 of the invites as it was dark the morning I sent most to school.

I stamped each princess on cardstock and colored them to look like each girl who was receiving the invite!  I used pattern paper from the Cosmo Cricket Pixie-Licious line.  I stamped the magical background by Hero Arts in white on the kraft.
After I colored each princess by the Greeting Farm than I roughly cut her out and attached her to adhesive magnet and than cut it out again.  It was so easy and worked really well!  I thought it would be more fun for the girls!

I so enjoyed making these!  And I really enjoyed coming up with the inside of the card too!  My friend and I wrote it together:

Princess Jayda
Please grace us with your
Royal presence at
Princess Ariel’s 5th
Birthday Party!
And enjoy and afternoon of
Games, crafts and snacks!
Please wear your finest
Princess gown!
The celebration will
Take place at
Princess Ariel’s
Castle

(you get the idea)
The invitation was a HUGE hit!  When Chad brought Ariel to her Sunday school class a few days after they were handed out two of the little girls came up to Ariel all excited and hugged her and thanked her for inviting them to her birthday party and how much they loved the invitation!  How sweet is that?  All the mom's have been telling me how excited there daughter was when they read the invitation to them!  One mom told me that her daughter talks about where she is going to put her princess today!  I am so pleased!

Well I better run!  I have to go and frost the cake!  I will be back with photos!  I am so excited!  I hope you join us this week at Wee Memories and play with our challenge, it ends on Friday Novemeber 12th 11:59 pst!

Silhouette Grass

Happy Friday!  Who hoo the end of the week is here!  I hope your week has been fab!  I have been busy creating!  Today I will be busy preparing for Ariel's birthday party tomorrow.  It's her first all kids party!  We are doing it before her actual birthday which is next Wednesday!  I have to go out and shop for her party so I will keep this short!  Today I have a card inspired by Carole who was on the Hero Arts blog for her win-a-day.  I had read the blog in the morning with my coffee as I usually do.  My friend came over after with her two kids and while the kids played we chatted.  My friend starts looking at a pad of patterned paper that is sitting on my island and as she does I spotted the paper this paper and immediately thought of how it would work under the grass!

I wanted the card to fit in a regular envelope so I made it slimmer so I could have the scallops on the side.  I am currently really into this scallop punch!

Well I am off to shop!
