Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge #16

Hi all!  It's Saturday which means that today is another Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge!  And today is my first as a member of the Design Team!  Yay! As you are reading this I am on my way to our friends cabin for a day at the beach!  It's a long weekend over here!

The Sponsor this week is no other than Cosmo Cricket!

The challenge is to use chipboard in your creations!  I knew that I had a bunch of chipboard cute shapes that were colored and with glitter but than I realized that my little Ariel had taken it all!  I asked her if she had any left and well no!  I did have some plain chipboard so I decided to cut it with my bigz die in my big shot and make my own shapes!  I always find it fun to cut hard items in my big shot, I am seriously going to have to try metal one day!  So here is my card:

I covered the butterflies with patterned paper by Bo Bunny.  I went with white as my focal point and embossed it so that the colorful butterflies would stand out. As I was making these I thought to myself that they would make good magnets so I added some to the back!  Than to adhere them to the card I used a pop up square!  It makes it extra special for the recipient.

The back of the butterflies:

I hope that you join in this fun challenge this week!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!  The prize is
2 packs of Cosmo Cricket Paper (Garden Variety and Core Impressions) and 2 packs of alphabet chipboard.  Please go to the blog for more details here.
The deadline is Friday, August 6 at midnight PST.Have a great weekend!

foodie cards

Happy Wednesday!  I hope that you are having a fantastic week!  I have had a great one, hit the splash park with the kids again, Carter probably went down the slide more than any other kid in the park as he does not understand lines and is little enough to get around the other kids!  No worries the lifeguard thought it was hilarious and the other parents couldn't believe how brave he was for being not even 2!  We also had a few playdates too.  I have sorta been having a busy summer.  Well I finally made a few more cards for the current challenge at Hero Arts which ends tomorrow and is food, travel and bookmaking.  I love Hero Arts and I love to play with there challenges!  I have two very different cards to share with you.  And the first card has dots and that works for the current challenge over at Simon Says Blog.  (Such a great challenge, dots who doesn't love them?)

Did you notice the egg?  Not only is it adorable with the cute face on it but I used glossy accents to make the egg yolk glossy and than I used Liquid Pearls on the white part to make it look like a real egg!  I will be honest with you my friends I was quite excited when I came up with this idea!  To do it I colored it all in and than I did the glossy first and waited for it to dry than I did the Liquid Pearls!  I want to make more egg cards!

This card is inspired by my mother's garden.  My parents are currently in Croatia which is where they are from, visiting family.   My mother has a huge garden and grows everything she can.   When we go to visit she always takes my kids into her backyard and shows them all of what she is growing and lets them water.  Actually funny memory when Ariel was 2 1/2 and the apple tree was in full bloom and she saw it for the first time she stood in front of it and just looked for what felt like hours, she was so enthralled!  Since my mom is gone my aunt is taking care of her garden, and my brother and sometimes me too.  I love this stamp because I love the carrots face!  My "theme" if you will to this card is to be garden like.  I stamped the friends def in distress inks and than with another distress ink blended it in.  I also used my new edge distress thing by Tim Holtz (that I had been desiring and searching for everywhere for at least 2 years) on the edges and than stained it with the distress inks.  I even colored the floss with the distress ink.  The distress look and the layout to this card is supposed to represent my mom's garden.  I plan on giving my mom this card for her to give to my aunt as a thank you card for taking care of her garden.

Well thank you for reading me, and thank you for your always wonderful comments!  I so appreciate you!

orange flower and hugs

Hello!  Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday!  I can't believe how fast this weekend has gone by!  It has been quite hot here so we hit another splash park with the kids today and had a blast!  Lately a lot of people have been commenting on my tan, it seems to be easier to get a tan now as a mom than before when I would sun tan!  How funny! (Don't worry I wear a high spf, who wants to burn?)  Today I have another card to share with my new flower stamp.  I actually made this card before the wedding card but with challenges I shared the other first.  I enjoyed playing with spraying water mixed with perfect pearls and made I think 12 different orange flowers and cut the best up for this card:

I love the second photo of this card as you can see the glimmer the flower has from the perfect pearls!  I cut the flower into two parts and put pop up dots in between the layers to add depth.  I embossed the flower in white and than using the ink pad colored it in.  With the top layer after I sprayed it with water and perfect pearls mixed together I heated it dry with my heatgun, with the bottom layer after I sprayed it I let it air dry and got a different look and a darker color!  I had a lot of fun playing around!   This card fits the current challenge at PaperPlay   which is to make a card with blue, cream and a color of your choosing.   And this week the Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday challenge is to have stamping in your project, which I do with the flower and the sentiment!  I also embossed the blue paper with my new Cuttlebug folder, which I currently cannot find in my mess of a craft table, love those big circles! (I also just noticed the CAS-tastic challenge is a summery card, and to me this is quite summery with the fun bold colors and gorgeous flower! Had to enter it!)

Well I hope you all have a great ending to your weekend!  I can hear my children waking up from there naps right now so I better run and make dinner!

summer fun and classy wedding

Hi all!  It's almost the weekend!  Hope you have had a great week!  Today I have two very different cards to share with you!  My first is a fun summery one, that I made for the Card Style Fun and Cute Challenge in the Moxie Fab World challenge, and it works for Wee Memories Summer Fun challenge!

I love the banner, I have been eyeing and loving banner's for a while now and was so happy to finally get one in my new Hero Arts stamp set, a kiss from the sun!  I stamped the banner on various bright fun summery colored cardstock and put some stickles for glitter, and placed it on the floss with popup dots.  I also stamped the sky in a bright blue and cut out and popped up various clouds (I love to do that!)

My next card is for another Moxie Fab challenge, the Card Style Classy and Elegant Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

This card also fits the challenge at Off the Wall Craftiness.  I embossed in white the flower and than "colored" the image with my stamp pad, and than sprayed with a mixture of water and perfect pearls.  It's sooo fun!  My first time doing so!  I will be honest with you though, every time I open my perfect pearls container I can't help but think that it's really makeup, I used to wear glimmer like that!  I wonder if it would work the same?
Well I can't go having a summery fun card without sharing some fun summer activity photos of the two cute ones I get to call my own can I?  I am sure I could but I know that maybe at least ONE of you would like to see my cuties.  These will make you laugh.  Yesterday we went to a wading pool that also had a slide for the first time this year.  Carter loved it and kept going up and down even with how cold the water was!  I don't think Ariel would have gone on the slide if her baby brother didn't! It's hard to see but her tongue is hanging out!  Both me and Chad wee surprised when we saw that!

Our church had a summer fun day and the kids had a blast!  I don't think Carter enjoyed the train ride all that much:

Poor little guy that was the sunday that for some reason he cried for 45 minutes in his nursery class (they finally called me than, I had never been called ever before!)    He went home for a nap after this!

Isn't she the sweetest?  Ariel loves chicks!  I think she would have taken her home if she could!

This is one of my facvorite's of Ariel's outfits!

Well I better run!  The weekend is just about here!  I will leave you with this cute photo of Ariel and her cousin, she told him that he should hold her hand so that he wouldn't get lost!

cards for kids

Hi all!  I am back!  We had an amazing time at the cabin, the weather was perfect and I went to the beach 6 days in a row!  I am such a beach bum and I loved it!  We had a lot of fun together as a family and my inlaws too for a few days!  Last week was full of a lot of summer fun also, a wedding, a birthday party, bbq's with friends and strawberry picking with 11 kids!  Oh just to let you know boiling water takes out strawberry stains!

While I was out at the cabin I made some cards for kids for Jennifer McGuire's card drive .  Just before I went away she had some examples of cards to make and suggested jokes.  I loved this idea, it made it so much easier!  Here they are:

To find the jokes I searched the image of my stamp,  for this I searched eggs and got a few jokes.  Because I was at the cabin I just free hand wrote them out with a black gel pen.  I also put glossy accents on the egg!  Since it's fun (and I am curious and would like to know if it was me)  I may as well share the jokes I used:

What did the eggs do when the light turned green?
      they egg-celerated!

How do comedians like there eggs?
     funny side up!

What day do eggs fear most?
Fry-day!  (I thought that this one worked best with the image!)

How do eggs get up a mountain?
     they scrambled up!

I love these fish cards!  They were so simple but yet fun to make. Perfect for making with the limited supplies I brought to the cabin!  I stamped them and than colored them in with my derwent and prisma pencils, than glued a googly eye and glossy accents for bubbles!  There were a lot of fish jokes to pick from, here are the ones I used:

What fish is the most valuable?
     goldfish!

Why is it so easy to weigh fish?
Because they have their own scales!

What is the best way to communicate with a fish?
     Drop it a line!

Why did the fish cross the road?
     Because someone threw it!

After making my bee cards from my last post I had some leftover yellow and black embossed paper so I came up with this simple design!  Lots of great bee jokes to pick from too!

What kind of bees hum and drop things?
A fumble bee (my fav joke)

How does a queen bee get around her hive?
     She's throne!

Why do bee's hum?
Because they have forgotten to words!

What do bee's chew?
     Bumble gum!

On Friday night we had some friends over for dinner.  Kate and I had a chance to craft together and we made cards for Grace for another card drive of Jennifer McGuire's.  Here is the card I made (I also sent her one of each of the other cards):

And here is the card that Kate made, it's amazing! For my flickr friends I helped her upload it to the Hero Arts group so go give her some love here

I called Kate that morning to ask her if she wanted to make cards for Grace that night and she also brought some cards she made before so I thought I would share them:

I told Kate that she should start a blog, isn't she talented?

I also asked Ariel if she wanted to make a card for Grace and gave her a white card and she came back with this:

So cute, can you see my scraps in there?  Someone raids my stash, but I had a lot of old stuff that I never used anymore!  Ariel was so excited to send her card to Grace. When I asked her what she would like to write inside she said "Not to be afraid and that I love her"  That touched me.  I didn't know if I should write that so instead we wrote that we hope she has a fun day.

Well this was quite a long post!  Thanks for reading it!

bee cards

Happy Monday!  I am quite excited as today we are heading out to my inlaws cabin!  The forecast for this week is hot hot hot so I am truly looking forward to being at the beach as much as I can!  I love the beach as do my children!  Chad well when he was perusing me he said he loved the beach, now it's okay to him!  Today I have two cards to share that I made over the weekend.  I have had these cards in my head for a while but I didn't have time to make them, was making other cards that were needed. This week Jenny at Wee Memories is having a free for all for her challenge, basically enter any cards you make this week!   I am also entering this card into the Papertake Weekly challenge which is to have stitches anywhere on your card.  The card:

Isn't this card the sweetest?  The Horizontal Lines background stamp by Hero Arts really made me think of the lines of a bee!  I black embossed it on some yellow cardstock.  I am also pleased I figured out how to ruffle the ribbon this way, I kept trying and not succeeding before!  And I stitched the tail!  So fun!  And one more bee card that has been in my head for too long:

For this one I went again with the black embossed lines!  The flower is also doused in glitter!  It feels good to make some cards that have been on my mind for a bit!

By the way I am sure most of you know but in case you missed it the wonderful Kathy is having such a generous blog candy!

Well I better run and finish packing!  This may be my only post this week but I will be creating as my wonderful friend Tammy picked up 3 new Hero Arts stamp/sets for me while she was on a trip in the US!  So I think I may be crafting in the evenings!  :>  Hope you all have a wonderful week and are enjoying this summer!

the last set of teacher cards

Hello!  Hope that your having a great first weekend of July!  And for my American friends Happy 4th of July Tomorrow!  We have had a great weekend over here.  With Thursday having been Canada Day Chad took Friday off also and were having a 4 day weekend!  It's been so hot so we have been outside and swimming!  Yesterday we went to a friend's parents pool and had a pool day!  Today I bought the kids a new kiddie pool and the kids had more water fun!  It's supposed to be a really hot summer over here this year but I don't trust it so I feel that if it's nice I better be outside enjoying it just in case!

Today I have the last of my card sets I made for Ariel's preschool teachers.  This one is for the youngest of the teachers and who I think was Ariel's favorite one, shhhh!

I embossed with black the flowers by Hero Arts on some pp by Bella Blvd from the line Estate sale.  I also stamped with different Hero Arts sentiments.  I like how it turned out, after my last teacher's card set I went with something quick and simple.  Oh and two days after school ended I found one of the cards on my craft table, I gave her 7 cards and 8 envelopes!  Opps, so like me to do!

I know I am always sharing photos lately but this one is funny.  I bought Timbits donuts (donut wholes) the other day.  After Carter's nap while I was doing something I heard him start to make his noise that he makes when he is eating something he likes, it's a numm nummy kind of noise.  So I went to check on him and this is what I found:

He took a bite from each of the remaining donuts! (Never mind the fact that he climbed onto the island and into his highchair himself!)  I actually ate one of his leftovers before I took the photo so he did this to 6 donuts!  So funny I had to take a picture and share!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!  Canada is 143 years old today!  Yay!  Today we are going to a friends place for a BBQ and some fun Canada Day activities!  Should be a lot of fun for the kids! Hopefully if it doesn't rain we will go and see the fireworks, Ariel loves fireworks!

Before I head out I wanted to share a card with you I made for the current challenge at Off the Wall Craftiness here is the inspirational photo:

Here is my card:

It took me a while to come up with an idea to be honest so I went with something more simple.  I really wanted to play.  The sponsor of her challenge is Your Next Stamp which is a Canadian stamp company (fitting today too!)  And I love her prize!  A mermaid stamp set, how perfect would that be with a daughter named Ariel?  (BTW just to let you know Chad picked the name and I loved it too since it's such a pretty name and an awesome meaning, Lioness of God!  We didn't name her after the mermaid!)  So I worked on this card into the late night last night so I could finish it!  I am pleased with how it turned out!

Well I better run and finish getting ready, we were going to head the beach but the weather is not cooperating so I have to unpack and repack!

Well I decided to add a photo to this post.  It's one from Canada Day 2007 of Ariel when she was a little than Carter is now, probably 20 months or so.  It's so cute and funny and my favorite Canada Day photo ever:

So funny, eh? Her hat says Cute, eh?  And her shirt reads All Canadian Cutie.   BTW when we arrived at our friends place it was so hot and gorgeous out, the rain had cleared that we ended up at the beach and had a blast!  Now I am off to relax, make supper and than head out to Chad's double baseball game tonight!
