shake it up with cinnamon hearts

Hello!  Happy Friday!  Late last night I quickly before bed uploaded to the flickr gallery three cards for the Hero Arts challenge since it was the last day.  The first card is a shaker valentine card.  I love love shaker cards and cinnamon hearts are perfect!  I had the idea a while ago but finally made it!  I am also going to enter this card in the Caardvarks red heart challenge, which is create a card that has a red heart in it.  This card has one little red heart stamped, but many little ones shaking about.  Here is my card:

Here is the card layingflat with the candies all about:

The birds and the twig are from an HA set that is exclusive to Archiver's.  My hubby was in Minneapolis last year and I called the store and picked that one out without seeing it, I wanted birds!  Happy Valentines Day is from the cheapie stamps at Michaels from a few years ago..  And I used my new HA cling dots stamp.  Sadly my baby played with my white stamp pad and I have yet to find the bottom of the pad , I am hoping I find it soon and that since it's pigment ink that it won't be all dried up!

I have another two cards to share.  I made one for my daughter's friend who lives across the street, for her birthday.  I think her mom my neighbor thinks oddly of me and my papercrafting habit.  It's odd when you meet someone who doens't get it right?  A lot of people may not do it but think it's great all the same.  The pressure was on with making her a card!  I used my new Girl Holding Flowers stamp by HA, love her! And my neighbor and her daughter loved the card, along with one of my neighbors good friend!

I made another one simular:

I colored them with my Derwent and Prisma color pencils.  This is my first time coloring a "person" stamp!  It's a lot of fun!  She is so cute!

Products used (not mentioned):  Hero Arts CG 139, H5330, Cl272, Nesties Labels 8, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Folder, American Craft Ribbon, Bazill cardstock, colorbox white pigment ink (the lost one now!)

I have also read quite a bit this week.  I am working on my third book.  And I made a lot of cards!  It must be the cold weather and not having shifts!  I read:
It was pretty good!  But even better was:
Wow what a hard book to read but yet what a good book!  The end upset me, and apparently the end of the movie is different.  I want to see the movie now!

I hope that everyone has a great weekend!  I have plans everyday, so it shall be fun! I am off to go and look for the white stamp pad!  It's driving me crazy I really want just to run to Michael's and buy a new one, but than you know what happens I will find the old!

Embellish Magazine Challenge Card

Hello!  Hope all is well!  Today I have a card to share for another challenge.  It's for the Embellish Magazine challenge

I always see my blogging friends participating in there challenges so I thought I would too.  It seems like all of a sudden I am taking part in all sorts of challenges!  I love stripes but had no stamps to make stripes, nor any pp in these colors.  Using these colors were easy I often use them, maybe just not together!  Here is my card:

I made the stripes out of ribbon!  I feel so clever!  At first I tried just having it cut at the end but found that tucking it under worked and looked better.  I started with the middle ribbon and went from there, and when attaching the top to the base I used foam adhesive.  I love this card!

Products used:  Bazill cardstock, HA sentiment, Blossom Party die SU, Ribbon, PTI Ivory Buttons.

I shall be back later tonight with some more cards to share!

Cards for Kids

Hello!   Today was a snow day for us as we were under Blizzard warning, there was blowing snow everywhere!  My hubby stayed home and did some work.  It was nice and relaxing as I made some cards, played with the kids, read my book, made a homemade soup for lunch and hubby made some amazing chilli for dinner! I have another card to share today (underneath is another post today) I made this card for two challenges.  The Hero Arts Friendship and Valentines Challenge is on right now.  And this card also works for the Moxie Fab World: Start to Finish Challenge   This card is also for Jennifer McGuires Card Drive for kids.  I am making 4 of them one for each girl and I will be working on some boy cards next.  I love this card as I think it's perfect for kids.....  Here is the outside:

I wanted to make a fun whimsical card for the kids.  Here is the inside:

The butterflies pop out when the card is opened!  I think that kids will like it, my daughter did!  It's unexpected and fun!  I hope it makes there day brighter.  Here is the card halfway opened I think it gives you an idea of how to make it:

Isn't this card just the cutest?  I can't take the credit for the idea I learnt it last year when I was part of an SU 10-4-10 group.  I colored the butterflies with my new Derwent and Prisma pencils (Christmas present!)

Products used:  Bazill cardstock, HA Cling Butterflies, HA Sentiment, SU Chocolate Chip Ink, Derwent Colorsoft and Prisma Pencils, Ribbon, Bo Bunny PP.

I read a lot.  My friend suggested that I share what I am reading on my blog, so I thought why not?  I just read:

It's a book I have had for a while and read a long time ago and reread (love when you can do that!)  It was really good I enjoyed it

And I just devored: My gosh why didn't anyone ever tell me how funny Janet Evanovich is?  Laughed so hard!  Must read more!  I love mysteries!

Hope you all have a fabulous week!

Everything But the Kitchen Sink Sketch Challenge 3

Hello and a happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I had a nice relaxing one! To start the week we are on blizzard watch today! This weekend we had quite a bit of snow and mild weather. This year we actually haven’t received as much snow as we usually would, when sledding often we could see grass! That’s very odd for Winnipeg that is often jokingly called Winterpeg! I was happy that it was snowing but not so much that there is a blizzard warning! We are spending the day at home including hubby! I am hoping for a crafty day! I am also hoping that I find my corner rounder, it’s currently missing and I know who to blame! My little guy! I am considering just buying a new one but you know what happens when you do, you find the old one!

Today I have a card I made for the Everything but the Kitchen Sink Challenge, love the name! It’s a sketch challenge this time. Here is the sketch:

This is my first time taking part in the EBTKS challenge, and also I am pretty sure my first sketch challenge!  Here is my card:

This is my first time doing the ruffle or rouched ribbon!  I kept meaning to do it since I like it so much!  The smaller green butterfly is from the new Butterfly Wings Embosslit by SU I cut it out at my friends place on friday.  Love how it fits with the Big Bold Butterfly Die by SU, and love that it is embossed!

Products used:  Bazill cardstock, Bo Bunny PP, Big Bold Butterfly and Butterfly Wings by SU, button by PTI, HA Sentiment.

Hope you all have a happy day, I will be back later just finishing up a card for another challenge.

Valentines

Hello!  I am back with a few Valentines cards to share!  This week has been a great week!  The weather has been beauitful so I have been out and about.  Today you all would have had a great laugh if you had seen me and my friends sitting on the side of a snow covered hill sledding with our children.  There were 4 of us mom's with 12 kids, 3 of whom were babies.  One baby was in her carseat, another was being nursed, and my son was in his sled.  All the mom's were sitting exhausted as were half the children telling us they were done, we felt like we had just got there! Dressed them all up drove across the city to a good hill and your done already?  I told them this is really funny it would make a good picture, but no one wanted to stand up and take a picture!  Than we went to McD's for lunch and that was fun undressing them in a playarea filled with people!  I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends!  I love being a stay at home mommy!

Today I have some cards to share for Winter's card drive for more info click here  I read about it on January 2nd and was so excited about it!  I love what she is doing especially mostly that she is following what she felt God telling her to do!  She started off collecting Valentines Day cards for the children of St Jude's hospital but has reached that and is now collecting for Texas Children's Hospital!  Right away I started to make some cards than took forever to send them.  I sent them a few days ago but sadly my husband just came home with them, apparently I was 82 cents short, not too happy about that as I went in to the post office and everything to send them!  They told me that it could take 4 to 6 days to reach Texas where I am sending them so hopefully they will make it there in time!  I will be back at the post office tonight!

Here they are:

I actually made 4 but forgot to take a picture of the last one.  I used some Valentines Day paper I have from last year by K and Company.  I don't have too much Valentines stamps and such so I went with what I have.  The cards are to be for both girls or boys so I didn't use any glitter, ribbon or flowers!  Although I did make the butterfly one before I read that!

I want to share some photos of my kids when I took them sledding the other day just down the street onto the lake.  The night before we had a Hoar Frost where all the trees are white, soo beauitful!  You can kind of see it in the photos.  The lake and where we sled:

Yes we do need more snow!  My two all bundled up! (Yes Carter is wearing a pink scarf, I still need to get him his own!  Oh well better to be warm!)  You can also see some of the trees!

About to go down!

Well I better go and get some supper on the table!  I am going to my friends place tonight to stamp and hang out!  She has a stamp room which is filled to the brim!  I know you all understand my excitement!

yet another butterfly....

This week has just flowen by!  Friday already, the weekend is here!  The weather here has been warmer so I have been bundling my kids up to go and play outside!  My son can't seem to walk in his boots on the snow and icy covered ground so it was quite funny to watch him try!  My daughter just loved it of course!  I have also been taking them sledding, there is a lake down my street and the hill down the lake is a good sled run!  I didn't know how my daughter would take it as last year we took her tobbaganning at the hill beside my parents and she was a bit frightened, but maybe my screams didn't help much either!  :>  This time she did enjoy it, maybe because the hill is not as big, maybe because she was by herself so it wasn't as fast, but mostly probably because I wasn't sitting in it also all scared!  I am so happy that we can go sledding so close to home, someone even made a rink on the ice.  Next up skating I guess!

I am back today with another butterfly card.  I can't help it I had another good idea!  And this card is again using the Rasberry Suite challenge 21 colors, the challenge is over but all my papers were out and I really liked the colors so I figured I would use them again! I actually am new to using cream in my cards! Here is my card:

I really liked the butterfly tail sentiment so I did it again.  This time I stamped all the butterflies and the card with the HA Cling Dots background stamp with versamark and than clear embossed it. (it doesn't show so well in the photo on the brown but it looks really good in person!) I really like how it turned out!  I layered the nestie a bit differently also on the card, it may not be easy to fit into an envelope but I like it to so much I don't care!  I also embossed the cream nestie with my dots cuttlebug folder!  I really like dots and I am really enjoying all the dots on this card!

Well I better run and clean up my father is coming over in a bit.  The other night after midnight my son was crying so I went to his room, I ended up slipping and falling on the linoleum floor!  On my way down my arm collided with the baby gate and I broke one of the wooden pegs!  It hurt a bit but no bruises nothing to me no worries, I couldn't believe that I had broken the gate though!  Thankfully my dad is coming over to fix it!

First ever Rasberry Suite Color Challenge!

Happy Wednesday or as I have learnt though blogging Hump day (seriously never heard that before!)  Thank you for all your sweet comments regarding my last post with the 7 interesting facts about me!  It always makes my day to read your comments!

Today I have a card to share.  I did my first card for the Rasberry Suite Color Challenge!  Here are the colors to play with:

What wonderful colors!  I was thrilled that in my stash I had the colors to play with it!  :>  Here is my card:

I don't know why but my blog won't let me go back to the left and if forcing me to type center! I shall be back after my shift to fix this and talk about the card!

Edited to add:

Well I am back!  I had to quickly post before running to work.  I had a last minute shift so I had to post the card otherwise I would have missed the challenge!

I am really digging my SU Butterfly Die right now and had to make a card with it!  This is one of the those cards that you start and have it half done and than leave it because your baby breaks his sister's piggybank and you have to get there and pick up that  money as fast as you can before he eats it!  So I kept walking by  it and thinking.  I had stamped the cream with one of my new Hero Arts 2010 stamps Cling Dots in brown and had the butterflies all cut out and than I had the idea to make the sentiment with a tail.  And I thought it would be a great way to add more yellow!  I also embossed all the butterflies, the brown and blue with Swiss Dots and the yellow with SU Texture Plates Dots.  And there you have it!  Such a fun card!

Products used:  Bazill cardstock, PTI buttons, HA Cling Dots and HA Sentiment, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug, SU Texture plates Dots, michaels ribbon!

butterfly thank you

Hello!  Happy weekend! This week it's been freezing over here!  Absolutely freezing!  I have spent more time at home with days of not going anywhere than I have in maybe a year?  Probably this time of year last time?  And actually I have quite enjoyed it and avoided going out!  The idea of dressing two children all in there snowpants, jackets, hats, gloves, boots, and all the other fun stuff and freezing has kept me home.  Actually two weeks ago at church two older woman laughed while I struggled to dress Carter up in his snowpants.  They told me how they went through it too!  It reminded me how quickly this time passes and I want to enjoy it even if Carter twists and turns and cries to get away from mommy with the snowpants!

I am currently working on Valetines Day cards for Winter's  card drive.  If you havent' heard of it yet please check it out!  I hope to be back in a few days to share a bunch of the ones I have made. Although today I have a thank you card to share:

I love this card so much that I want to keep it all for me! I used two HA stamps for this card, the striped circle and the thank you very much. I die cut the butterflies with my SU Butterfly die.  For the biggest butterfly I used an old history text book than I took liquid glass (glossy accents) and lined the edges and than covered in glitter.  I like the look and using the liquid glass it's super strong and the glitter doesn't come off, it does take a while to harden and I did it before putting the butterfly all together and assembled it after it dried.  For the pink and the blue butterflies I stamped them with the striped circle as on the kraft card with white pigment ink.  The ribbon is a American Crafts one and I based me colors all around it!

I recieved a blog award!  Thank you so much Jill!

My 7 Interesting Facts:

1.  My mother is a professional taylor.  She trained in Europe and is absoultely amazing.  When I was young she was offered an amazing job with a designer but never took it since she didn't want to travel.  She alters my clothes all the time and when I was a teenager I would draw outfits that I wanted and she would make them.  Sadly I can hardly sew!  When I see sewing done on cards I think to myself I really should do that. Never want to do it, I should!  My mom has offered me a machine and I keep meaning to get it!  I remember when I was in my early 20's and I told her I wanted to learn she quickly talked about sending me across the country to the place that had the best course in Canada.  I had been thinking of taking a small course through the lesure guide!

2.  I love breastfeeding!  My brother is 5 years younger than me and I remember my mother nursing him.  I always knew I would too.  I always wanted babies and when Ariel came I never had any problems nursing! (I did read A LOT before she was born on it)  My son Carter wasn't as easy but I am still nursing him in the mornings, I don't know when I will stop.  Breast is best!

3. I have a sweet tooth!  I love desserts, and candy!  I used to eat it daily but have gotten better.

4.  I enjoy baking!  I love hunting for great recipes!

5.  I am a first generation Canadian.  My parents are both from Croatia and immigrated to Canada seperatly and met and fell in love here!  I was born here and actually didn't speak English until I was 4! I can still understand Croation quite well and can speak okay.  I have been to Croatia twice, the last was 5 1/2 years ago already!

6.  I was robbed at gunpoint when I was 34 weeks pregnant with my first child Ariel. It was as terrifying as you can imagine! This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me, and I pray that it stays that way.  My coworkers all told me that they thought they would become midwives that day!  Thankfully Ariel didn't arrive for 8 weeks!

7.  When I was a child/teenager I imagined my family.  I don't know why I did this but I did.  Here is what I saw:  A Girl and a boy both blonde with a blondish husband (I am not in it as I am looking at them if that makes sense)  we are all standing on a bridge looking at water.  I have that family now, how cool is that?  When my son Carter was born I remembered this, for some reason I hadn't before.  It was quite interesting to remember that!  I look forward to the point in my life where we are standing on a bridge and I can know that it's what I had in my heart.

So the 7 bloggers I am giving this award to is as follows (and sorry if you received it already....)

Charlotte

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a great New Year's Eve! I did! My hubby is actually away on a guy's trip right now and left on new year's eve! It's a bit sad to be without your partner on New Year's Eve but at the same it's important for men to be with other men. There going to sporting events, and my hubby will see his favorite NFL team on Sunday, the Vikings. Plus I got him to get me two new hero stamps while he is out there! So for New Year's Eve we had thought of doing more of a kiddie thing outside with fireworks and such but the weather was just too cold! So a friend hosted a party. We all brought along our children as there were enough rooms to put them to sleep in. Darling daughter didn't sleep though! That's what happens when you attempt to put two kids who take forever to fall asleep together! But she did sleep in! I had a lot of fun! And there was SUCH good food! Today I have to share the card set I made for Chad's grandmother as part of her Christmas gift. She is such a wonderful grandmother, she is 86 already! I sadly ran out of time and didn't make her a purse for her cards so I put them in one of my Christmas gift bags that I made! She loved them! Here are all four:

The pictures aren't the best. My Christmas tree is sitting in the window where I usually take the photos plus it was dreary when I took these! Here are close ups:

I went with the same colors and used flowers from my SU Die Blossom Party! I don't know if you can tell from the photos but I accented them with white pearls! I also pulled the silver brads frommy stash that I have forever! It's so much fun to make little card sets!
Products used: Su Blossom Party Die, Nesties Labels 1, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Pearls, HA stamps, Bazill Paper, Brads.
All the best to you and your families this 2010!
