bring on the cake

Happy Monday!  Enjoying a holiday Monday over here!  It's a "real" holiday as no stores are open!  I am home all alone still with Carter.  Yesterday I was a bit lonely, it's odd to be with only one child all day and night.  I think what's making it worse is that I worked way too much last week (due to back to school rush) and now when I am home only one kid.  Or maybe I got used to being so busy and now not so much.  Chad is having a great time on his trip,  I miss him but I am happy for him having fun.  And really I am happy for Ariel who is having the best time with her cousins and grandparents!  I have been catching up on cleaning and organizing over here!  And now my friend is coming over for the afternoon with her sweetheart so that shall be fun!

By the way TODAY is the last day to enter the last of my two giveaways, I really hope you have entered!  Click   HERE and HERE.

After making my card for the current Scrappy Saturday Challenge at Wee Memories I was in the mood to play more.  I love this week's challenge of Wee Ones!  I really hope you come and play too!  For more info click here.  And here is my card:

I love this girl so much!  And love that cupcake! I picked the sentiment bring on the cake because such a small girl, big cupcake!

I better run gotta finish vacuuming!  I am making this soup recipe today thought it would be fun to share:

Herbed Veggie Soup

2 Tbsp. Butter or margarine
2 medium  peeled carrots, chopped
1 medium Onion, halved lengthwise and sliced
1 clove  Garlic, minced
1 little zucchini peeled and cut
1/2 cup  chopped celery
1 can (19oz/540mL) diced tomatoes (since I double this I do one reg can of diced, and one of Alymers Tomatoes Accents Italain, I like the added spices.)
1 1/2 cups  Chicken broth
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/4 tsp.  dried thyme
1/8 tsp. Pepper
1/2 cup  Kraft 100% Parmesan Grated Cheese

make it

MELT butter in large saucepan over medium heat.
SAUTÉ carrots, onion, garlic, and celery for 5 minutes.
STIR in remaining ingredients, except cheese; bring to a boil.Add zucinni close to the end so as not to over cook it.
COVER and simmer about 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
SPOON into soup bowls and sprinkle each serving with cheese

I got the recipe at Kraft Canada.com but I changed it a bit.  I usually double it but only one little zucchini My kids and guests love it! After I make it I will add a photo...

Such a sweet card, Anita! Love the orange and pink together! How nice for everyone to actually have all the stores closed for your holiday. Labor Day for us today and most stores are open. Only banks, post office and other government offices are closed. As a matter of fact, I'm heading to work shortly myself. Bummer!
